The Love Squad

I love the books Chicken Soup for the Soul, thay are just great, real stories about people like you and me and how we can make our lives nice and suny every day. If you want to read...
The Love Squad Like a band of angels, this group of friends helped remind me that 'God has everything under control.' By Virelle Kidder

"Oh, no! Not company!" I groaned, the moment my car rounded the corner and our house came into full view. Usually I'd be thrilled to see four cars lined up in our driveway, but after I spent a weeklong vigil at the hospital with an ill child, my house was a colossal mess. Turning off the car engine, I dragged myself to the front door.
"What are you doing home so soon?" my friend Judie called from the kitchen. "We weren't expecting you for another hour! We thought we'd be long gone before you got home." She walked toward me and gave me a hug, then asked softly, "How are you doing?"
Was this my house? Was I dreaming? Everything looked so clean. Where did these flowers come from?
Suddenly more voices, more hugs. Lorraine, smiling and wiping beads of perspiration from her forehead, came up from the family room where she had just finished ironing a mountain of clean clothes. Regina peeked into the kitchen, having finished vacuuming rugs and polishing and dusting furniture in every room in the house. Joan, still upstairs wrestling with the boys' bunk-bed sheets, called down her "Hello," having already brought order out of chaos in all four bedrooms.
"When did you guys get here?" was my last coherent sentence. My tears came in great heaving waves. "How come . . . how come . . . you did all this?" I cried unashamedly, every ounce of resistance gone.
I had spent the week praying through a health crisis, begging God for a sense of his presence at the hospital. Instead, he laid a mantle of order, beauty and loving care into our home through these four "angels."
"You rest a while, Virelle," Lorraine said firmly. "Here's your dinner for tonight—there are more meals in the freezer." The table was set with flowers and fancy napkins, and a little gift was at my place. A small banquet was arranged, complete with salad and dessert.
"Don't you worry; we're all praying," my friends said. "God has everything under control."
After my friends left, I wandered from room to room, still sobbing from the enormity of their gift of time and work. I found beautiful floral arrangements in every room . . . and little wrapped gifts on each bed. More tears.
In the living room I found a note under a vase filled with peonies. I was to have come home and found it as their only identity: "The Love Squad was here."
And I knew that God had everything under control.

New Photos, enjoy them!

Thepost was written for my AIESEC Members, so for explanations for my other friends:

EB = Executive Board (in Bern)
MC = Member Committee (in CH)
Other things you don't understand? Just ask :)

Maybe you don't know, but your EB had an intensive time last week. After a kind of summer break, now we are all back in Switzerland from Thailand, Romania, Austria, Ukraine, Denmark and more :) and we finally met all of us together.
It all started with the cool LC Coach Meeting with Cileia, two weeks ago. We looked to us as a team, a whole person and how we can get the most of our person in the team. We found out where we fit best and how our contribution in this direction will bring a lot of benefit to the whole LC. It was really interesting. What I learned was to concentrate not on my weak sides, but on my strong sides and to build on them. It's like I knew that, but now it's more present in my mind and that is good.Last week, on Thursday we made a team day, we went away from Bern to Leissingen. We were all day long there and we also slept there. It was so good to be right near the lake, to enjoy the fresh air and the silence (Marie does not agree with me about the silence :) ). It was so good that we came all together, that we had really enough time to plan the next semester (we planed all LCMs till end of 2006), to make an year plan review, to discuss different strategic things we want to bring in our LC for the next semester. We will update you soon on this. You will not believe it, but all 5 of us went to bed before 10 o'clock!!!! Yeah...we were somehow finished... :) not all of us, but we were aware that we had to go to the conference next day which supposes a very intensive time and not that much sleep. This youth hostel in Leissingen was so beautiful, you can read more about it in Laura's blog, she described it very well.So for the weekend we were all at Kandersteg for the ACT conference, a national conference for all EBs in Switzerland. So apply for the next EB term and you will be there next year :). The MC gave its best and worked hard for this conference, I could see, that they really want to have an impact in their term, they were very well organised and everything was kept in time. BRAVO for our MC!!! For me it was special to speak more with my EB and to get to know them better, all of them. I also got to know better the MC people and my mentor, who I am very proud of :) it is really an opportunity that everyone in our LC should have. If you don't want a mentor, look at least for one Goldie to stay in contact with, they have so much knowledge that brings you further! But back to ACT. There were a lot of learning environments and interesting issues, a lot of sessions and a lot of fun and laughter because the MC people are great actors. :)What we bring back to you from the team days and ACT are issue based experiences and issue based recruitment. We will soon introduce them to you.Thank you Marie for all the discussions we had and the morning walk through the rain. :)Thank you Yavor for the nice sugar cube and that you were there for me.Thank you Daniel for all your engagement with the trainees.Thank you Laura for your new inputs we can use so good in our LC!Thank you EB for understanding each other.People, I can tell you, we have a great EB this year!!!

Millionaires?

Can you imagine?… America has no longer 400 Millionaires, but 400 Billionaires…just read, the link is in the title…and we blame God because of all people that are so poor in this world…but what about us? How would it be, if everyone gave 10% of his income (also this 400 Billionaires) to the people who have to fight every day with the hunger…

Beautiful Day, Isn’t It?

The day started out rotten. She overslept and was late for work. Everything that happened at the office contributed to her nervous frenzy. By the time she reached the bus stop for her homeward trip, her stomach was one big knot.
As usual, the bus was late - and jammed. She had to stand in the aisle. As the lurching vehicle pulled her in all directions, her gloom deepened.
Then she heard a voice from up front boom, "Beautiful day, isn’t it?" Because of the crowd, she could not see the man, but she heard him as he continued to comment on the spring scenery, calling attention to each approaching landmark. This church. That park. This cemetery. That firehouse. Soon all the passengers were gazing out the windows. The man’s enthusiasm was so contagious she found herself smiling for the first time that day.
They reached her stop. Maneuvering toward the door, she got a look at their "guide": an older gentleman with a beard, wearing dark glasses and carrying a thin, white cane.

let's give our best!

“Almost everything we’ll ever do in life that is really powerful, that really
produces a result in our lives, that quantum-leaps us to a new level . . .
requires us to do something uncomfortable. It takes risks to achieve. It’s
often scary. It requires something you didn’t know before or a skill you
didn’t have before. But in the end, it’s worth it. As former Congressman
Ed Forman says, ‘Winners are those people who make a habit of doing
things losers are uncomfortable doing.’ Make today your day to start
that uncomfortable new habit.”
– Jack Canfield

Quote of the Day

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results. Anonym...

Quote for the Sabbath Day

1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,
2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth
Proverbs 3: 1-9a

quote of the day

Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.
